The Maidens Quiver Tree is the most branched of all aloes. The stems are smooth and covered with a waxy, grey powder which acts as a sunscreen in the harsh climate.
It is endemic to the Richtersveld at the border between South Africa and Namibia, where it grows on desert slopes and in ravines. Its closest relative is A. dichotomum (Quiver tree)
